Dentist Actor

A variety of interests pursued by Dr. J.W. Loppenthein, a dentist of Ludington, Mich., led him, last August, into the cast of a historical pageant presented in memory of Father Jacques Marquette, the missionary-explorer-priest whose zeal to extend the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of France took him from France to the wilderness heart of America.

The memorial pageant was presented within sight of the spot, at the mouth of the Marquette river at Ludington, where Father Marquette died. It was the climax of a three day observance of the 260th anniversary of the priest’s death.

Dr. Loppenthein appeared in the cast of the pageant as a missionary priest, one of the other brave spirits who accompanied Pere Marquette to the unexplored West to convert the Indians and extend the power of France.
